Mission Bay Watersports 30 years paddling

Orakei Basin is one of the volcanoes from the Auckland volcanic field. After eruption about 85,000 years ago, it became a freshwater lake that had an overflow stream in the vicinity of present Orakei Rd bridge. As sea level rose after the end of the last Ice Age, the lake, was breached by the sea and has been a tidal lagoon ever since.

The whole experience is about 1.5 to 2 hours in duration.

Afterwards many groups head to Brothers beer across the road for a pint and burger. Pretty awesome adventure with friends or work mates.

Standup paddling is a very low impact exercise. This means it is is unlikely that you will do damage to the tendons and ligaments of your joints. Paddle boarding is particularly useful for runners that are experiencing shin splints or knee and hip pain, yet still need a good exercise to do while healing. So any one can give it a go.

Standup paddleboarding requires you to stand upright on the board, which requires a lot of core stability and leg strength to maintain balance. This not only helps you have a good balance while paddle boarding but increases your focus and balance in day-to-day activities, as well.

Train with your mates while going on an adventure. We would love to paddle with you so don’t hesitate to get in touch.
